About Live Game Server List
Origins
Live Game Server List is inspired by the original LGSL project created by Richard Perry. His original PHP-based LGSL was one of the earliest open-source game server listing tools, allowing website owners to display live status information for multiplayer game servers. It supported dozens of query protocols and became a widely used tool in the game server hosting community throughout the 2000s and 2010s.
While the original codebase is no longer maintained, its legacy lives on through various community forks and remixes. Our project carries the LGSL name forward as a tribute to Richard Perry's pioneering work, rebuilt from the ground up with modern technologies while staying true to the original vision: giving players a straightforward way to find and monitor game servers.
Our Mission
Live Game Server List (LGSL) is a comprehensive, real-time game server monitoring platform dedicated to helping gamers find and track multiplayer game servers across the world. Whether you're looking for a busy Counter-Strike match, a quiet Minecraft survival server, or a competitive Rust wipe, LGSL provides the data you need to make an informed choice before you connect.
Our goal is simple: provide the most accurate, up-to-date game server information available. We believe that players deserve transparent, real-time data about the servers they play on, including player counts, current maps, server locations, and historical activity trends.

How It Works
LGSL operates a continuous server scanning system that queries game servers directly using standard game query protocols. Here's what happens behind the scenes:
Server Discovery
Servers are added to our database by community members or discovered through master server lists. Each server is identified by its IP address and port number.
Protocol Queries
Our scanner sends UDP query packets to each server using game-specific protocols (such as Valve's A2S protocol for Source engine games, or GameSpy protocols for older titles). The server responds with its current status, player count, map, rules, and other metadata.
Data Processing
Responses are processed and stored, including player names, scores, current map, server settings, and version information. We also perform GeoIP lookups to determine the physical location of each server and identify the hosting provider.
Continuous Monitoring
Online servers are re-scanned every 15 minutes. Servers that fail to respond are checked less frequently using an exponential backoff schedule. Historical data is preserved to show player activity trends over time.
Features
Real-Time Server Status
View live player counts, current maps, and online/offline status for every tracked server. Data is refreshed continuously throughout the day.
Historical Statistics
Track player activity over 24-hour and 7-day periods with interactive charts. See peak hours, map rotation patterns, and long-term server health trends.
Global Server Map
Every server is geolocated to its physical location. Browse servers by country and find low-latency options near you using country flags displayed on every listing.
Player Tracking
See who's currently playing on any server. Track individual players across sessions with score history, play time, and last-seen timestamps.
Map Downloads
Browse and download community maps for supported games. See which servers are currently running each map and discover new content.
Server Management
Server owners can register and claim their servers to access management features, track player analytics, and showcase their community.
Supported Games
LGSL supports monitoring for a wide range of multiplayer games, including but not limited to:
...and hundreds more. Visit our Games Directory for the full list of 461+ supported titles.
Technology
LGSL is built with modern web technologies to deliver fast, reliable, and accessible server monitoring:
- Server Scanner: A high-performance Node.js scanner using the GameDig library to query game servers via their native UDP protocols, capable of scanning thousands of servers per minute.
- GeoIP Location: IP-based geolocation determines each server's physical country and coordinates, with reverse DNS lookups identifying hosting providers.
- DNS Resolution: Servers with DNS hostnames are automatically resolved to their current IP addresses, with periodic re-resolution to handle dynamic DNS configurations.
- Web Application: A responsive, server-rendered web application built with Laravel, React, and Tailwind CSS that works seamlessly on desktop and mobile devices.
Get Involved
LGSL is a community-driven platform. Whether you want to add your server, report an issue, or suggest a feature, we'd love to hear from you.
